Murray Cod have very long lives, it is common for them to reach the ages of 30 - 35 years. The oldest living Cod recorded is 48 years of age.
Traditionally Yellowbelly used to be supplied to the fish markets by commercial fishers fishing the inland rivers and lakes. Yellowbelly are an excellent farm dam species.
Yellowbelly grow to 75cm and 23kg. They are fantastic eating between 1 and 2 kgs.read more
The Yabby is a freshwater crayfish, also known as a crawchie, crawdad, craybob or even lobbie, it's dependant on where you come from.
Yabbies can live in virtually any body of fresh water including rivers, lakes and dams. Yabbies burrow and are able to survive long periods of drought.
Eel - Tailed Catfish
Eel-tailed catfish are excellent in farm dams as they breed easily late spring to mid summer. The catfish build their nest 1 to 2 weeks before spawning. If this nest is exposed by lowered water levels then it is abandoned and another is built.read more
Narrabri Fish Farm provides fishing, yabbying and guided tours. Meals can also be provided or you can cook up your catch in the shaded BBQ area. There is plenty of room for buses, and seating for of up to 50 people.
Narrabri Fish Farm is an accredited hatchery under the
NSW Department of Primary Industries Hatchery Quality Assurance Scheme.
Orders are now being taken from stocking groups for the Dollar-for-Dollar native fish stocking program for Murray Cod and Golden Perch.
